Member Responsibilities

As a volunteer organization, ABRC needs the active participation of its members to make it work. ABRC members are expected to be involved in racing and/or other support roles. This includes attending meetings, riding with the Club, volunteering for race duties, mentoring beginning riders and always riding in a responsible, courteous manner. Remember: when you are wearing a Club jersey, you're representing all ABRC members and our sponsors.

Membership Categories

The Club has a tiered membership and benefits system aimed to promote racing wearing the Club's jersey and membership participation. The membership levels and definitions are as follows:

  • Members: Any individual that joins the Club, stays current with their membership, obeys the Club by-laws, and participates in events wearing the Club jersey. Individuals can sign up as "Racing Member", "Dual Team Member", or "Patron Member".
  • Associate: Associates are "active" members within the Club, attend and volunteer at one or more Club sponsored events, and stay current with their membership. Members that wish to make a monetary donation/contribution in excess of $100, but less than $500, will also be classified as "associate" members.
  • Associate Plus: Associates are "very active" members within the Club, stay current with their membership, get involved and help out with Club operations/activities (Officer level and above) and/or compete in at least 10 USAC/ATRA events (weekend events only) in a calendar year. Members that wish to make a monetary contribution in excess of $500 will also be classified as "Associate Plus" members.

Payout System

Asheville Bicycle Racing Club allocates a certain amount of cash flow to the payout system on an annual basis based on the financial assets of the Club.

This payout amount will be distributed to the Club members (Associate and Associate Plus only) based upon the amount of registration fees paid by each individual member. Cash payout distribution will be tabulated and provided during the Club Year End Party. The top 3 finishers will be rewarded with the following Club apparel:

1st place - Club Jersey and shorts
2nd place - Club Jersey
3rd place - Club arm warmers and socks.
The individual with the highest cash payout will be rewarded with the ABRC Cup Award. Payout distribution will be done in a manner that favors no individual or rider category or classification. Some of the events eligible for payout reimbursement include: USA Cycling (USAC) events, America Track Racing Association (ATRA) events, and "Cookie Rides".

The maximum amount of cash payout for 2010 has been set to $5,000.

All dues and terms of a rider's contract must be met to be eligible for payout. This includes volunteering at ABRC events.
